We usually fish for food during the voyage. This is done with hand lines trolled behind the boat and our catches include tuna, wahoo, trevally and mahi-mahi. The fresh sashimi is divine

Accommodation on Tokelau:
Most passengers enjoy the hospitality of the Luana Liki Hotel on Nukunonu Atoll in the Tokelau Group – this costs about $70USD per day (for full board) and is paid directly to the hotel (NZ$ cash is preferred)

Things to do on Tokelau:
Atafu and Nukunonu have small general stores. There are usually carvings, craft work & stamps for sale. Lagoon tours are recommended

Weather delays and getting ashore at the islands:
Most of the strong winds in the South Pacific come from the east (i.e. trade winds). Sailing in very strong trade winds is definitely not fun (seasickness is almost guaranteed), hence we often change our voyage schedule to suit the weather conditions and wind direction. This can mean departing a day or two late, or changing the order of the islands we visit. We have extra days built into our voyage plan for these situations

Anchoring at the outer islands is normally good, but in bad weather getting you ashore through the surf is often difficult (or impossible). On average, our success rate (over the last 20 years) has been about 90%. We have extra days built into our voyage plan for delays such as this

We are a small boat in a big ocean:
Please remember we are an adventure travel company – hence, if you love the idea of driving around the National Parks of Africa, or trekking in the remote Himalayas, you will enjoy a sail to the remote Pacific islands with us. Please note: our crew are not in uniform and whoever is on ‘boat-watch-duty’ eats first

This is the South Pacific Ocean and we are proud of our piece of paradise. You are most welcome to share our boat, homes and lives
