Tahiti to Gambier flight instructions for Pitcairn passengers:

You will need to catch the 7am Tuesday morning departure (on Air Tahiti) from Tahiti to the Gambier Islands the day of your departure from Mangareva. Our vessel will be waiting at the wharf in Rikitea Village (Mangareva) for passengers arriving on the Tuesday flight - it is a four hour flight and arrives at 12 noon (Mangareva is one hour ahead of Tahiti time)

You can book your Air Tahiti flights at your local travel agent, or you can book directly with Air Tahiti on their website (www.airtahiti.aero) or you can email them at reservations@airtahiti.pf

The Air Tahiti flight number is VT951 from Tahiti (PPT) to the Gambier Islands (GMR). Tell your travel agent that these flights can be booked by using the usual booking systems for airline tickets.

These flights are a once-a-week service and depart from Tahiti at approximately 7am on Tuesday mornings. The flight returns the same day, arriving back at Tahiti at approximately 5pm

They fly the twin engined ATR72 to Mangareva, and will have plenty of seats if you book well in advance of your voyage.

Pitcairn landing permits and travel insurance:

Tourists visiting Pitcairn (with our company) do not need to apply for landing permits from the Pitcairn Administration directly (as would normally be required for longer term visitors)

Please notify us of the following details (at least one month before your voyage) and we will arrange for your landing permit at Pitcairn:
Your name, nationality, date of birth, passport number & expiry date
Plus your travel insurance name, policy number & expiry date. Your travel Insurance must have a provision for medical evacuation

Non-tourists, eg film crews, journalists, amateur radio operators and scientists etc will need to contact the Pitcairn Administration in Auckland directly to arrange for landing permits.
