R/V Bounty Bay Trip Log 2005
Where have we been?
We've been to dozens of uninhabited islands, in the remotest corners
of the Pacific. We've been to the places in your dreams, and to
those you haven't yet dreamt of ....
What have we seen?
We've had great adventures and seen unique wonders. We've been awed
by the beauty of the Pacific and the treasures found in her care.
......next time, come with
us.
October 2005 and January 2006 - More Palmerston adventures
Want some real adventure - maybe camp on a deserted islet ? Well,
this is the spot. To figure out how it is done, read this Cook
Islands News article from a recent happy customer.
September - Professional surfers in the Cook Islands
Sean Davey put together a surf expedition to remember - this sort
of sports action is not for the faint hearted. I guess between us
we just put the Cook Islands on the surfing map of the world - you
will need to email us to find the secret spots. Sean's surf magazine
articles are legendary - his photos are awesome. For proof see www.seandavey.com
August - Sports fishing at Aitutaki
Mahimahi and wahoo aplenty, with some keen sports fishermen. Geoff
Thomas was with us, with his documentary film crew catching it all
on tape. Keep your eye out on New Zealand TV next year.
July - Atiu and Takutea
Atiu Island and Takutea Wildlife Sanctuary with Dive New Zealand
magazine - watch out for the articles in the Dive Annual, Dive Pacific
and Dive NZ magazines next year. Check out Dive
NZ's website.
May/June - Suwarrow National Park
Suwarrow National Park voyage with the Environment Service wardens,
and tourist divers. A big thrill was discovering a dive site (we've
named it Predator Point) with 30 grey reef sharks, a hundred trevally
(jacks) and a dozen chevron barracuda, plus in other sites plenty
of diving with (and filming) false killer whales, sperm whales and
manta rays. Link

April - Takutea
Takutea voyage with a New Zealand TV documentary film crew, plus
tourist divers and an “Escape” magazine journalist the
Cook Islands tourist magazine.
February/March - Takutea and Palmerston
Takutea voyages with tourist divers and Atiu residents, plus emergency
food and fuel supplies to Atiu and Palmerston during the cyclone
season. We also completed a 15-minute video on the underwater life
at Takutea Wildlife Sanctuary.
January - Takutea, Atiu, and Mitiaro
Takutea and Atiu voyages. These trips transported Atiu residents,
tourist divers (Link
to happy customer) and marine surveyors – this also included
a joint-venture dive expedition to neighboring Mitiaro Island with
The Dive Centre.
