2) Our two-week 'Pitcairn Islands Explorer' visits three of the Pitcairn islands: Pitcairn Island itself, plus weather permitting Oeno Atoll and Henderson Island. Learn first hand about Pitcairn's lifestyle and history by sharing the homes of the local people. A guided tour by the local islanders around their spectacular little rock in the middle of the ocean is breathtaking, and your trip will be the travel experience-of-a-lifetime. Stepping ashore on Henderson Island (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) makes arriving at the ends of the earth something you will never forget, plus visiting uninhabited Oeno Atoll is great for photographers and beach combing fans. Price US$3,400.

3) Our two-week 'Pitcairn-Tuamotu Birding Expedition' visits three of the Pitcairn islands: Pitcairn Island itself, plus weather permitting Oeno Atoll and Henderson Island plus the Acteon group of the Tuamotu. Henderson Island (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) has five endemic bird species. Henderson crake, Henderson fruit-dove, Henderson warbler, Henderson lorikeet and Henderson petrel. Oeno Atoll is alive with seabirds and also great for diving and beach combing fans. The Acteon Group of the Tuamotu are also visited, they are home to the critically endangered Tuamotu ground-dove and endangered Tuamotu Sandpiper. Price US$3,600.

You will find plenty of beauty to be discovered in the waters surrounding these islands - plus the wreck of the clipper Wild Wave at Oeno Atoll. Most of the coasts on these islands are awaiting FIRST TIME EVER UNDERWATER EXPLORATION! Price US$3,900.

Land at famous Rapa Island and visit the many stone forts scattered about the mountain tops. The picturesque lagoons of Raivavae and Tubuai are our final destination. This expedition is ideal for those who want more on-island time - more birding - more culture - and more time soaking up the history of Polynesia. Price US$5,500.

Air Tahiti flights to Mangareva (Gambier Islands):

Air Tahiti fly to the Gambier Islands every Tuesday (flight VT951, departing at about 7am from Tahiti) and return to Tahiti the same afternoon arriving about 5pm. This is the flight we meet (in both directions) so you will only have a few hours in Mangareva before we depart on your outward journey to Pitcairn. You will have more time in Mangareva on your return from Pitcairn as we often plan to arrive back in the Gambier Islands on Monday and stay overnight at Rikitea Village.

On your arrival in the Gambier Islands, Air Tahiti will bring you on their ferry boat from the airfield across the big lagoon to Rikitea Village (Mangareva), where you will find our vessel tied up to the main wharf.

You can book your Air Tahiti tickets online at www.airtahiti.aero
