Expeditions Schedule: we are planning the following voyages in 2006

June to September 2006 – Ecotourism and Science – Pitcairn
Two-week voyages to the Pitcairn Islands with Birders, Scientists, Surfers and Tourists. For a voyage schedule click here. We pick up passengers in Mangareva (Gambier Islands). The at-sea bit takes two days each direction – berths are available on these voyages and when at Pitcairn you will be hosted onshore with local families – go for it! We only go this far out into the Central Pacific once a year, at the most. So don’t miss this opportunity.

These trips include visiting Henderson Island (a World heritage Site), a pristine, uninhabited tropical island – paradise indeed. These voyages depart from Mangareva on Tuesdays and arrive back on Tuesdays. We meet Air Tahiti flight VT951 in both directions. Price US$2,500 per person.

Snorkeling, diving and camping ashore on an uninhabited motu – Palmerston Island
We have some local people going home to Palmerston, and while they visit their families, we get to swim, dive and visit uninhabited motu.
Read about Palmerston here.

Ecotourism & Diving – Suwarrow
Suwarrow National Park Expedition, sharks, sharks, sharks, not to mention manta rays, whales, fresh tuna for lunch and a million seabirds (we don’t eat these).
Read about our June 2005 Suwarrow Expedition here.

Diving – Takutea and Atiu
Uninhabited Takutea Wildlife Sanctuary (20km NW of Atiu) dive trips. Multiple departures – bring a compass, as the underwater ravines and trenches of this magical uninhabited island are mind blowing – “best dive I have ever done” is the standard reply to the first question we ask as you get out of the water. This world class diving site was proudly discovered by us in January 2005. Read about diving at Takutea here

While at Atiu you should spend some time with the hundreds of skeletons in Massacre Cave, or go for an underground swim in a candle lit grotto – ps: please, do not blow out the candles !

Pricing of voyages
Most voyages are priced at US$180 per person per day – this includes equipment for diving and camping ashore. Discounts are available for group bookings and non-divers. You can also charter the whole boat for $1,800 USD per day. Then you get to go where you want – and do what you desire – real freedom and real adventure !

Upcoming projects – Science Expeditions
Major conservation science projects include:

1 – The Phoenix Islands Biological Survey. (March/April 2006). This expedition starts and ends in Samoa. There is plenty of uninhabited islands to visit on this month long project – check out an atlas.

2 – Tuamotu Atoll ecological restoration. (Sept/Oct 2006). A month of invasive species work with SOP-Manu (Tahiti) as partners. Establishing a rat and cat free wildlife sanctuary is our goal.

Paying volunteers will be considered on these scientific expeditions. Note: a reasonable state of fitness is essential. Flexibility and good humour in difficult circumstances are essential. Exploration is both fun and hard work – join us to find out.
